ABOUT

Evan Roth is an award-winning composer, singer-songwriter, and pianist known for nostalgic melodies and heartfelt scores.

From a young age, music was in his blood. Evan started playing piano at age 7 and had a fascination for classical and orchestral music. After discovering John Williams and John Powell scores in the theater at an early age, Evan soon acquired a deep appreciation for film music. From that moment on, he knew he was destined to become a film composer.

Roth has spent the better part of a decade scoring over 30 independent and studio films varying from the new Netflix Tanzanian folktale “Katope” to the 2023 SxSW Official Selection “Leonetty.” His scores have been heard at film festivals throughout the world, including SXSW, The Berlin International Film Festival, Holly Shorts, Comic-Con International, The Las Vegas Film Festival, and the Tirana International Film Festival. In 2014, Evan made his debut scoring a Gold Peak Tea Commercial with Ron Howard and has since been actively scoring national commercial campaigns (The Coca Cola Company, Del Taco, McDonalds, Honest Tea). Among other notable commercial campaigns was a Samsung spot for the Rio De Janeiro Olympics that debuted at the white house for President Obama. In 2015, Evan collaborated with Mr. T on an original song for a Fuze Iced Tea Commercial. In 2017, Evan's score to the indie film “Stuck On Someday” by director Emily Prescott, won Best Music at the Reading FilmFEST.

In 2018, Evan scored an Arabic foreign language short film by Saudi female director Dina Naji called “Hind’s Case”, that has won 6 festivals including The Los Angeles International Film Festival, amongst others. In October 2018, Evan scored a thriller feature film called “STATIC” with veteran producer Travis Knox (Hairspray, The Bucket List). Evan also recently received the Gold Award for Best Music at the 2019 LA Mindfield Film Festival. In addition, director Chris Frint’s short film “Claude” was an Official Selection at the West Coast International Film Festival, The IndieFEST Film Awards and the Golden State Film Festival at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA. In 2020, “Heaven Reaches Down From Earth”, a film by Tebogo Malebogo received critical acclaim, playing at Film at Lincoln Center and becoming an Official Selection at a number of international festivals, including Palm Springs International Film Festival. The film was released on MUBI in the same year and features a very unique vocal piece that includes extended technique and a cacophony of breathing. In 2023, Evan scored Film Independent Fellow Logan Jackson’s “Leonetty” and it made its world-premiere as an Official Selection at SXSW, as well as being featured at numerous other festivals across the US. Leonetty was released on MUBI and continues to make a mark in the festival circuit and inspiring audiences with its heartfelt story and a one-of-a-kind jazz score. Another film release in 2023 was Xinying Lao’s “Xiaohui and His Cows” which won Best Short at the Hamptons International Film Festival, as well as taking home Honorable Mention at the 2023 Berlinale. As a result of its successful festival run, the film was shortlisted for the Oscars® in the Live Action Short Film nominations category and released on MUBI.

Blending influences from traditional classical and neo-modernism, Evan's unique voice can be heard in every score. His wide range of musical influences in jazz, classical, pop and world music are evident in his approach to scoring.
